Selena Gomez and David Henrie to Reunite for Wizards of Waverly Place Sequel; Details 

Return to Wizard World! Disney announced the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel. Selena Gomez, who played Alex Russo in the iconic Disney series, announced the wonderful news on Instagram late on January 15. On Instagram, actor David Henrie verified the news.

Selena posted a photo from the first season on her Instagram story. The photo shows Selena, the middle Russo child, and David, the oldest and most responsible, sitting on the classic sofa in their New York apartment. “We are back,” she captioned. 

David posted an Instagram photo of the network draft confirming the sequel. He captioned the image, “The Russo's are excited to become a part of your family, once again, but we've grown—2024, the year returns.”  

Enchanting Ensemble: Who else will join Wizard World? David Henrie will direct Wizards of Waverly Place 2. Selena won't be a full-time fixture in the adolescent sitcom sequel because it centers on David. One or more guest appearances by the actress are planned.  

The sitcom sequel also stars Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Goanopulos. Storywriting and production are by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. They previously collaborated on Raven's Home 2. The writers will executive produce with Selena Gomez, Gary Marsh, David Henrie, and Andy Fickleman, who will also direct.

After a mysterious incident at WizTech, an adult Russo leaves his magical skills behind and lives a normal life with his wife (Gianopulos) and two sons (one of whom will be Thiele). Justin must face his history to save the Wizard World when a powerful young wizard (Brown) arrives at his door to train.  

A release date yet? Disney has not announced a release date, but David Henrie's Instagram caption for the sequel announcement suggests it could be released this year. “2024, the year magic comes back,” he captioned Instagram. Wizards of Waverly Place broadcast between 2007 and 2012.
