Sam Heughan 'emotional' as he teases Outlander season 8 dates

Sam Heughan has expressed his "bittersweet" thoughts regarding the eighth season of Outlander in an honest and transparent manner.

After a decade on television, the immensely popular historical time-travel drama will end next year, and the Scots star will be back on set for its last outing.

The 43-year-old, as we've previously reported, has expressed that while he would be sad when the program finishes, he is excited for new opportunities in the future.

Fans shouldn't give up on their inevitable "Droughtlander" just yet, as the second installment of series seven is still scheduled to premiere in early 2024.

However, the Jamie Fraser actor disclosed some significant dates during an appearance on Graham Norton's Virgin Radio show over the weekend, which may provide an indication as to when the final season may air.

We wind up in October at the end of the year, and that will be it, Sam stated.

He continued, expressing his conflicted emotions at the show's conclusion: "We've already had fittings, and I realized it's the final time I'll be having fittings, so I started getting sad.

"It's been incredible, this journey has been amazing, it's changed my life, and it will be bittersweet."
