Randy Travis honors shooting-killed lighting tech: The stage is dim.

"The stage has gone dim with the passing of Thom Roberts," he said on Facebook Monday night.

A single chest gunshot killed Roberts, 68, Sunday evening. The lighting specialist died on the front porch of his Howard Avenue house in East Nashville with his 72-year-old wife Christine Ann Roberts.

Christine Roberts is in jail for criminal homicide. In a statement, police said she informed investigators she shot her spouse for cheating.

Roberts was a superb lighting specialist with decades of experience.

"Thom not only had a magical sense about lighting a stage; but, he had a quiet, charismatic presence that ignited your soul," Travis said.

"Always willing, with a ‘can do’ and ‘happy to do it’ attitude."Travis praised Roberts.

"A nicer, softer spirit would take a lifetime to find. Thom was my friend and lover "says the singer.

He is noted for "Forever and Ever, Amen," "I Won't Need You Anymore (Always and Forever)," "Too Gone Too Long," "I Told You So," "Honky Tonk Moon," "Deeper Than the Holler" & "Is It Still Over?"
