Randy Travis grieves lighting technician shot by wife amid adultery charges.

Residents of a Nashville neighbourhood are shocked after police say a woman shot and murdered her husband on Sunday, alleging infidelity.

Country singer Randy Travis and several friends mourned the lighting technician for major musical acts.

A police affidavit states that 68-year-old Thomas Roberts was shot in the chest Sunday at a home in East Nashville. Police claimed they found Roberts on the porch with a revolver close to his wife Christine.

Roberts died on scene.“It sounded like a firework and that's what we thought it was, and then the police showed up with all the lights and everything and I saw him on the front porch,” said an unidentified neighbour.

A photo and candle were placed on the couple's sidewalk on Monday. After moving in, one neighbour remembers Roberts' friendliness. “Just very welcoming and, ‘Come on over when you're settled and we'll come over to your place.’ Very nice and wonderful, the neighbour said.

Neighbours informed Nexstar's WKRN that Roberts was a talented stage writer who worked on sets nationwide. They said Roberts retired and planned to visit Italy with his grandson.

Bandit Lites vice president Michael Golden recalled Roberts' professionalism. Thom was a superb lighting technician and a humble, sincere man. I met Thom in the early 1990s when I supplied lighting for Vince Gill.

He was one of the "old guards" that turned touring from the wild west into a respectable and professional business. Thom worked for numerous artists and institutions in the city, but hearing his name made me happy. This city and its music community will miss Thom, but his reputation and foundation will make us better.”
