‘Outlander’: Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin Open Up On Series’ Most Heartbreaking Goodbye Yet

While a massive explosion at Frasier's Ridge appears to be the most surprising occurrence this season on "Outlander,"

the Starz series managed to squeeze in a shocking disclosure, a sad birth, and the series' most heartbreaking goodbye yet.

Moments into "The Happiest Place on Earth," the mystery of who killed Malva (Jessica Reynolds) is finally revealed.

Despite Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones) accepting responsibility for his daughter's death in order to save Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from the noose,

it was actually his son Allan (Alexander Vlahos) who committed the crime. Claire tries to dissuade Allan, stricken with grief,

from killing himself, but Ian (John Bell) enters and shoots him with an arrow, claiming that Allan's actions killed an unborn child and therefore he cannot live.

On a more positive note, Frasier's Ridge welcomes Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger's (Richard Rankin) daughter Amanda.

But it's not long before Claire realizes the infant has a possibly catastrophic cardiac condition.

With this finding, Bri, Roger, and their children realize that they must travel back in time to save Amanda with modern medicine, even if it means never seeing Claire and Jamie again.
