Eagles Offensive Coordinator Candidates: 5 Names to Watch If Sirianni Remains

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni has been "reaching out" to potential candidates to join his staff in 2024, with the support of general manager Howie Roseman.

Russini does not guarantee that he will return as coach in 2024, despite a dismal finish to his third season on the job. But, at the at least, he'll be given the opportunity to present his case.

Sean Desai remains defensive coordinator, but he was relieved of play-calling duties in mid-December, a panic move that appeared to have been influenced by someone higher up than Sirianni.

Desai's defense wasn't strong. Matt Patricia's defense was a complete mess. It is realistic to predict that the Eagles will have a new defensive coordinator by 2024.

The offensive picture is a little less clear. On the one hand, Brian Johnson presided over an uninspired offense that seemed excessively reliant on screens and quarterback draws.

On the other side, he appears to have done well as quarterbacks coach the previous two seasons, assisting in the development of Jalen Hurts, and it's unclear how much autonomy he had while working under Sirianni.

Despite receiving several coaching interview requests this cycle, Sirianni is unlikely to persuade Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to give him a fourth season if his objective is to re-establish Johnson as offensive coordinator.

As a result, while we're confident Johnson will arrive somewhere soon, he'll most likely be thrown overboard in the coming days.
