Basil Beef Bowls with a Thai-like flavor.

There is a significant reason why pad krapow is the most popular stir-fry meal in Thailand.

The dish consists of saucy ground pork that has been tossed with sliced bell peppers, hot chilies, and a handful of fresh, sweet basil, and everything is served over rice that is still steaming.

The fact that it is typically served with a runny fried egg is an additional perk that makes this dish not only satiating but also easy on the wallet.

Because of our twist on this incredibly straightforward dish, it is the ideal protein-packed meal prep that will keep you thrilled to eat throughout the entire week.

In most cases, the sauce that is used to coat beef and peppers is seasoned with Thai black soy sauce. This type of soy sauce is more thick and sweet than the thin soy sauce that can be found on the shelves of most grocery stores.

Since black soy sauce is not as popular in American grocery stores as it is in Asian grocery stores, we decided to go with molasses as an alternative.

Molasses is something that you probably already have in your pantry. When combined with fish sauce and thin soy sauce, it produces a sauce that is rich in umami and proves to be a worthy substitute for the genuine thing.

For this dish to be suitable for meal preparation, it is important to store the beef and rice in separate compartments. This will prevent the rice from absorbing all of the sauce that is included in the beef.
