A recipe for a 4-ingredient smoothie that a gastroenterologist and his family consume daily for breakfast

A gastroenterologist revealed his family's favorite breakfast, a straightforward smoothie made with just four ingredients.  

The smoothie recipe was posted on Instagram by gastroenterologist Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, who said, "We all love easy, quick options, and I have a simple, go-to daily breakfast that gets the job done."  

He said, "Smoothies are a great way to get your kids to eat more fresh fruits and veggies," in the caption for his post. Before we begin the day, our family enjoys saying "cheers" at the breakfast table."

Just place the ingredients in a blender and "hit the buzz button," according to Bulsiewicz, to prepare it. He suggested adding walnuts, hemp seeds, or ground flaxseed to this smoothie as a garnish.  

Dietitian Nichola Ludlam-Raine previously stated to Business Insider that for smoothies to be nutritionally balanced, they should include fats, protein, and fiber. She cautioned against making fruit-only smoothies because they can cause blood-sugar spikes and crashes. These may have a detrimental effect on concentration and energy levels in healthy individuals without diabetes.
