49ers GM John Lynch on new Commanders GM Adam Peters: 'He's a really bright guy.

Adam Peters spent the last seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before joining on as the Washington Commanders' new general manager this week.

Peters worked as the 49ers' vice president of player personnel from 2017 to 20 before being promoted to deputy general manager in 2021.

His boss? John Lynch is a Pro Football Hall of Famer.Lynch announced his retirement from the NFL in 2008, following a remarkable 15-year career.

He then immediately began his broadcasting career with FOX. He excelled in that position until January 2017, when he was unexpectedly named general manager of the 49ers.

He was paired with Kyle Shanahan, the new head coach. Lynch, who did not have a traditional personnel background, needed to find someone with extensive scouting experience.

So he contacted the Denver Broncos and its famed general manager at the time, John Elway, and expressed his desire to hire his right-hand man. That man was Peters.

Since 2017, Peters has worked closely with Lynch to develop the 49ers' roster. San Francisco boasts perhaps the finest roster in the NFL, thanks to Lynch and Peters' draft success and trades and free agency additions.

In his first press conference as Washington's new general manager, Peters stated that he will follow the same formula with the Commanders.
